Linimo is a maglev train in Aichi, Japan, near Nagoya. Although primarily built to serve the Expo 2005, this route still in operation to serve the local community.
Linimo claims as "Urban Maglev" world's first automated commercial. Maglev trains with linear motor has a maximum speed of 100 km / h, hovering eight millimeters above the rails while on the move, and are intended as a choice than conventional metro system, not high speed trains. This track has nine stations and has a length of 8.9 km. The train was designed by the Chubu HSST Development Corporation, which also operates a test track in Nagoya. Construction of this route spend ¥ 60 billion (U.S. $ 575 million) while the carriage, made by Nippon Sharyo, spend ¥ 40.5 billion (U.S. $ 380 million) [1]. So sekitara construction costs spent U.S. $ 100 million / km.
